The Last Dragonslayer
Recently, this series has caught my attention. The Chronicles of Kazam by Jasper Fforde starts out with The Last Dragonslayer. Jennifer Strange is 16, orphan and the back up manager of Kazam Mystical Arts Management in absence of the recent Great Zambini. But the world that she lives in doesn't try to hide the magic but rather use it for helpful services like moving illegally parked cars, de-mole a garden or fix the pipeline in a house. Jennifer must find out how to stop the death of the very last dragon on Earth but how can she do that if she's supposed to be the dragonslayer? This book was better than I expected and a different kind of take on the types of magic. It gives the world a new idea of the magical world, history and its high legends. I thought that this book would give a good laugh for girls who think that they can't go into business or some sort of agent. The characters were given the right kind of humor and sarcasm needed. There's new animals and a science sort of take on magic, preservation and the limited use of some types of energy.
