The Menagerie by Tui T. Sutherland and Kari Sutherland is a mixture of fantasy and mythology and had me at the edge of my seat when I was reading. The story is well worth the reading and is the first of The Menagerie Trilogy. I thought the characters complimented each other and were given humor and plenty of development. Zack (the main character) starts in a new town with his dad after receiving a post card from his mom, saying that she would never see them again due to her work. But pairing up with the weirdest girl to look for her "dogs" leads to a whole new level of mystery and oddball adventure.
